General considerations for working with the head

Working with the head, neck and jaw there are so many ways to help, yet very few moving parts. The head is primarily working with pressures, and then linking to the rest of the body.

As you effect pressure changes, the head gets lighter and easier to move. It really is amazing!

There are many ranges to work within.

  • Pressure and boundary support can be broad or targeted, soft or firm.
  • Movement can be tiny oscillations, or large flowing connections to the neck and thoracic cavity.
  • Matching of zones within the head can encompass large areas, or tiny pressure points.

The movement can be within the head, from the head to the core, but also from the core to the head!

Three general scenarios will be discussed in this lesson theme:

  1. Head Trauma/Injury
  2. Head Trauma/ Surgery
  3. Head Trauma/ Birth, Development
